Job description

Building a sustainable tomorrow

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Payroll Administrator to join the Team. This role will join our Payroll team, working between home and our office in Hemel Hempstead.

Your mission

As Payroll Administrator, your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Assist in processing the monthly and weekly payrolls.
  2. Liaising with all levels of employees.
  3. Dealing with payroll queries from employees.
  4. Comply with payroll timetable and policies.
  5. Assist team in data manipulation and data upload of payroll input data received from various areas of the business.
  6. Delivery of all payroll activities as assigned to time and quality ensuring a high level of accuracy at all times.

Who are we looking for?

The following are mandatory requirements:

  1. Ability to work on a large volume, busy payroll. Be process-orientated, service driven, and enjoy being part of a team.
  2. Payroll experience in UK monthly and weekly payrolls.
  3. Numerical competency in data entry.
  4. Confident in manual processing of payroll from start to finish.
  5. Payroll knowledge on current payroll legislation, i.e. SSP, SMP, SPP, NIC and Attachment of Earnings Order.
  6. Proven track record of delivering payroll and continually improving payroll processes.
  7. Clear and logical thinking and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and deliver strong results.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with colleagues of all levels.
  9. Strong numerical competency with ability to do manual calculations independently.

The following are desirable requirements:

  1. Ability to manipulate and upload large amounts of data in Excel from various sources with high accuracy.
  2. Previous use of VLOOKUP function to collate data for payroll.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with particular focus on intermediate Excel skills with VLOOKUP, Pivots.
  4. Knowledge of iTrent and Business Objects desirable, but not essential.
  5. Knowledge of payroll processing in the construction industry.
  6. Experience with payroll and pension reconciliations.
  7. Experience of using various payroll systems and the ability to adapt and learn new systems.
  8. Experience in processing P11Ds would be an advantage.
