Job description

Role: Patent Paralegal

Based: Leeds, UK (Hybrid)

The Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Patent Paralegal to join a well-established IP firm based in Leeds. This is a great opportunity to work with an experienced team and receive support from the Head of IP Business Services as you advance your IP career.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor all incoming correspondence and accurately update the records including docketing deadlines on the internal database
  2. Deal with various formalities including IDS’s, Power of Attorney and declarations requiring inventor signatures, including any necessary notarisation and legalisation
  3. Lead regular support team meetings to promote best practices within the team
  4. Monitor team tasks daily via our internal database and coordinate with fee-earners to manage deadlines and provide support as required
  5. Assist in training new IP Administrators and review their filings before submitting to the fee-earner
  6. Participate in internal paralegal meetings and keep up to date with Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The successful candidate:

  1. Will be CIPA qualified
  2. Must have 3 to 4 years IP experience
  3. Ability to build and maintain a constructive relationship with individuals at all levels
  4. High level of knowledge of IP portfolio management system(s), as well as solid IT Literacy, in particular MS Office
  5. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  6. Meticulous eye for detail, working consistently to high standards
