Job Title: PAT Tester

Base Location: South Coast (Patch covered - Brighton to Dorset, ideal location would be Portsmouth area)

Salary: £26,191 depending on skills and experience and working hours

Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday – Friday 8am-4pm. Overtime available for those who want it.

What will I be doing in this role?

As a PAT Tester, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring electrical safety across a range of commercial properties. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Conducting Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on electrical appliances and equipment in line with industry regulations and company standards
  • Ensuring all appliances are tested thoroughly, with accurate labelling and clear identification of pass/fail status
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate records of testing results, including equipment condition and any remedial actions taken
  • Identifying, reporting, and escalating any electrical hazards or faults discovered during testing
  • Providing clear and professional advice to clients on the ongoing maintenance, usage, and safety of electrical appliances
  • Managing your daily workload efficiently to meet deadlines and customer expectations
  • Representing the company in a professional manner while on client sites

This role involves travel to various commercial locations, so flexibility and a customer-focused approach are key.

What do I need to be successful in the role?

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A City & Guilds 2377 qualification in Portable Appliance Testing (or equivalent recognised certification)
  • A good understanding of current electrical safety standards and regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to advise clients on safety and compliance matters
  • The ability to work independently, manage your time effectively, and use initiative
  • A full UK driving licence (as travel to various sites will be required)

Experience in a similar role or environment is desirable but not essential—we’re open to newly qualified testers with the right attitude and qualifications.

Please note: This is a temporary position. If successful, you will initially be onboarded and employed through our preferred recruitment agency partner. Contracts are initially offered for a period of three months, with the potential to be extended or made permanent, subject to business needs and the candidate’s suitability.
