Job description

Pastoral Teaching Assistant

Location: Walsall

Duration: Full time, ongoing

Salary: £95 – 105 per day

The School/Role:

We are currently looking for an experienced pastoral teaching assistant who can take on a full-time ongoing job role in a fantastic SEN school in Walsall. The school strives to provide the best quality teaching and learning with an inclusive and personalised curriculum. They are passionate about preparing students for life and supporting them to achieve their personal goals. This is a full-time post and will run until the end of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Candidate should have experience in a pastoral role with SEN children and varied academic levels.
  • Requires patience, commitment, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Supportive school team focused on excellent student education.
  • Ideal for those with teaching assistant experience.

Key Duties:

  • Constant Supervision: Provide vigilant supervision to ensure the safety of the child and others, particularly in managing disruptive behaviour.
  • Building Trusting Relationships: Foster a trusting relationship with the student to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Sensory Room Assistance: Facilitate the student’s engagement in the sensory room to enhance their learning experience.
  • Outdoor Activities: Organise and facilitate opportunities for the student to run around outside each day, promoting physical activity and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant SEN Background
  • PECS and Makaton training/experience
  • PMLD, SLD, MLD, ASD and Complex needs experience
  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate
  • Recent school-based references
  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
  • Full DBS – on the update service
