The School:

The school is based in Woking and provides support for children aged 9-16 years who have a range of learning and behavioural needs due to social, emotional and mental health challenges. All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which details their specific needs in terms of the care and support they will have access to. 3. Recognising behaviour triggers and helping to de-escalate challenging situations.

  5. Encouraging the development of social skills and supporting students’ individual needs.
  6. Helping to build confidence and motivation.
  7. Participating in team meetings and training programmes as an active member of a team.
  8. Supporting regulations pertaining to safeguarding.

What is required:

  1. An Undergraduate Degree, ideally in a relevant subject such as Psychology or Criminology.
  2. Prior experience as a learning support assistant/mentor in a school setting, ideally for challenging students.
  3. Knowledge and/or a keen interest and understanding of the range of different types of learning and behavioural needs.
  4. Good general education levels in English and Maths – A Levels are preferable.
  5. A co-operative working style and a proactive approach to solving problems.
