Opportunity to make a difference to a man in his own home.

Are you interested in broadening your knowledge and experience in brain injury? Do you want to make a positive difference to someone's life?

If you are interested in the care industry, join their team and help someone to live his life to its full potential.

On behalf of the client, the organisation is recruiting a support worker to provide daytime support to a 59-year-old man with a brain injury living in his own home.

They are looking to fill a rota providing 1:1 support for 10-hour shifts on weekdays, including occasional cover on weekends and bank holidays.

Their client enjoys getting out into the community; therefore, driving and being a car owner is essential. He likes going to the gym, eating out, and watching football. He enjoys talking to people. He requires prompts in most aspects of his life, including managing his medicine. The role includes shopping, preparing his meals, and light domestic tasks. He has an excellent sense of humour and enjoys a bit of banter.

What does the role offer you?

  • An extensive induction and training programme offering support and guidance every step of the way.
  • Regular supervision/appraisal with the Team Leader and Case Manager and ongoing support from the wider team and therapists as appropriate.
  • Opportunities to learn, progress, and develop in the role: CPD actively encouraged and supported.
  • To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

What are they looking for?

  • Passion and commitment for the role, with an opportunity to get to know their client and make a difference to his daily living.
  • The ability to bring your own strengths and interests to the team.
  • Flexibility and availability to provide cover for absences, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm to support their client's participation in social and leisure activities in a variety of settings.
  • Assist in reaching the client's specific goals as instructed and trained by the therapy team.
  • Have up-to-date DBS at enhanced level: paid for by the employer if you need.
  • Must hold a driving licence and drive your own car.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, with patience and kindness at all times, to ensure the safety and well-being of the client.

The role:

1:1 weekday shifts 08:00-18:00 (preferably Mondays, but please call to discuss).
