Part-Time Afterschool Tutor

We are currently seeking a part-time afterschool tutor for a role in our learning center at GradePower Learning - St. Petersburg. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language and math, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Tutors at GradePower Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements:

Tutors at GradePower Learning work during after-school and evening hours, as well as Saturdays, although you are not required to work every one of these days. However, your students will love working with you, so being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position, and completing a background check is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Third or Fourth-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification is an asset
• Good knowledge of the current 1st - 8th grade curriculum

Experience:

• Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to 8th grade (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to 3 students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details):

• Teaching up to 3 students at different levels simultaneously
• Following the GradePower Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Filling in post-lesson notes
• Completing daily student communication updates
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $16 - $20 / hour based on previous experience and education

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday: afternoons and evenings
• Saturday mornings/early afternoons
• Specifics will be discussed during the interview process
