Job description

Our client seeks a Part-Qualified Accountant to join their team.

Role Profile: Responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial statements, management accounts, and reports. Supporting the finance function in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing insights to guide business decisions. This role offers an opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of accounting while completing professional qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
  2. Support the preparation of management accounts and variance analysis.
  3. Prepare financial data for internal and external reporting.
  4. Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately in the accounting systems.
  5. Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and inter-company reconciliations.
  6. Assist in the reconciliation of supplier and customer accounts.
  7. Support the management of accounts payable and receivable processes.
  8. Assist in the processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
  9. Ensure timely resolution of queries with suppliers and customers.
  10. Assist with the preparation of departmental budgets and forecasts.
  11. Monitor and report on budget variances and assist in corrective action where necessary.
  12. Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
  13. Provide support during audits by gathering necessary documentation and explanations.
  14. Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and ensuring compliance with local tax laws.
  15. Support with tax filing and reporting activities as required.
  16. Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and systems.
  17. Help to streamline accounting workflows to increase efficiency.

Key Skills and Experience:

  1. A part-qualified accountant, currently studying for a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA/CGMA, etc.).
  2. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
  4. Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  7. Continue professional development by studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA/CGMA).
  8. Participate in internal and external training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  9. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (if applicable).
  10. Experience in financial reporting or management accounting in a commercial or corporate setting.
  11. Familiarity with VAT and tax compliance.
  12. Experience working with ERP systems.
