An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Manufacturing engineer to join our team in the Bristol Turbines Facility. The BTF is a growing and high technology business unit within the Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace Supply Chain. The BTF is a high-volume facility that manufactures high pressure single crystal Turbine Nozzle Guide Vanes through casting (BTF-Foundry) and then machining (BTF-Machining).

As a Manufacturing engineer you will be working in the BTF Manufacturing Engineering continuous improvement team in either the BTF-F or BTF-M. The successful candidate will provide technical support to operations and execute Manufacturing Engineering activities to develop, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture, which are capable of meeting and continuing to meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, deliver rate and lead time (SQCD).

Why Rolls-Royce?

Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount.

We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will join the team in continuously improving the method of manufacture to meet safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time on production parts.

We’ll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.

What we offer

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

What you will be doing

  • Ensure manufacturing processes are fully compliant with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, maintaining a safe and sustainable working environment.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design definition, and that processes are followed so that our parts conform to their specification (including sub-tier suppliers).
  • Promote a culture of zero defects and ensure that digital systems are developed and deployed to support Right First-Time manufacturing, guaranteeing product quality and conformity.
  • Develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems and/or methods of manufacture which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes (laser, grinding, milling and EDM) is essential and knowledge of coating processes (plating, thermal spray and vapour deposition) is desirable but not essential. Alternatively, strong knowledge of investment casting processes is essential and knowledge of single crystal casting processes is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven track record in technical problem-solving, along with a solid understanding of Six Sigma / Lean methodologies.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing systems such as CAPP, MES, SAP, and technical documentation, with the ability to optimize production processes using these tools.
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and the drive to deliver within a challenging, high volume, production environment.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives which are crucial to innovation and problem solving. We believe the more diverse perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of caring and belonging, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.
