An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Painter/Decorator to join their team at a secure facility. This role involves performing essential maintenance tasks, ensuring that all work is conducted safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for both planned and reactive painting duties, while also supervising the work of prisoners. We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Painter/Decorator to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Whatton, this role is based on-site.
There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.
By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
The Painter/Decorator plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (across 7 days as a weekend shift pattern is in place), 07.30am – 16.30pm with an early finish every Friday.
You will be responsible for:
What makes this role unique is you will ensure all works are carried out to the highest safety standards, sometimes working alongside and supervising the work of prisoners. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
We want to hear from you if you have:
Ideally you will be qualified to NVQ level 3 in Painting and Decorating, however we will consider applications if you have NVQ level 2.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you are comfortable working alongside prisoners and experience in sharing best practice with others to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
