As a Team Leader, you will lead a team within the paint plant. You will report directly to the section manager, communicating any issues that arise. As a team leader, you will coordinate the team in adhering to all safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Continually monitor and audit Health and Safety, People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost metrics within your span of control as per Caterpillar Production System (CPS) guidelines meeting targets.
  • Reinforce Caterpillar's Values in Action and communicate to appropriate departments/personnel at daily start of shift meetings.
  • Record defect information in detail on the quality gate visual management boards/management systems.
  • Clearly communicate defects to Paint Operations and support area personnel as defects are identified.
  • Provide detailed quality feedback with quality alerts and quality meetings.
  • Participate in defect investigations and component inspection as required.
  • Maintain the skills matrix for the team to 100% versatility and ensure standard work is updated.
  • Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) for Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost within your team operation.
  • Lead the team to meet the daily demand of the job and root cause analyze events leading to process failure.
  • Generate and work on Continuous Improvement ideas for your assigned area using the Continuous Improvement (CI) process.
  • Adhere to the Company's Health and Safety policy and safe working practices, reporting appropriately.
  • Undertake training and further learning as required for the job and the BCP Safety Recipe.
  • Maintain leadership development required learning.
  • Flexible approach to working on other shifts.

Required qualifications:

  • Experience of CPS processes to reduce/eliminate cost.
  • Experience of the BIQ process, reporting defects, root cause analysis.
  • Identify with Caterpillar's belief in the value of continuous improvement and a team-based culture.
  • Ability to work closely with others, requiring team participation to achieve the agreed objectives.
  • A self-motivated individual with the flexibility to deal with individual and team behaviors, able to motivate others with your advice and experience.
  • Initiative and strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
  • Must be flexible and support with extra hours if required.
  • Willing to work on a multi-shift pattern.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work through quality issues in a methodical manner.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Previous supervisory experience desirable.
  • Experience within a paint plant environment preferred but not essential.

What You Will Get:

Job Title: Team Leader (Paint Plant) - Afternoons

Contract: Permanent

Pay Scale: Starting hourly rate £16.65 progressing through to £18.45 once role triggers are met +20% Shift Allowance when working afternoons.

Hours: Full Time – 37.50 – Mon 2pm – 23:00pm, Tues – Thu: 2pm – 22:30pm, Fri: 10:45am – 15:45pm.
