Job description

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Paediatric team is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated clinical support worker to work within the paediatric team.

It is an exciting time to join the paediatric team at Walsall due to the expansion and progression of our service. The paediatric team is leading the way in progressing virtual wards and a new team structure is creating a new dynamic way of team working. The paediatric department comprises of:

  • 21 bedded-inpatient ward,
  • 12 bedded PAU,
  • Surgical day case unit,
  • A Paediatric virtual ward,
  • Children Community nursing team

Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated clinical support workers, with experience of working with children and young people, who are able to work as part of a team.

We require individuals with a team working approach who will be flexible to our service needs and passionate about delivering high quality care. In return we will offer a structured development package and the opportunity to be a valued member of our team.

Job responsibilities

  • To provide the highest standard of nursing care for patients under supervision of a registered nurse.
  • To carry out assigned tasks including direct care and indirect care as delegated by the nursing team.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills both verbal and non verbal.
  • Demonstrate high standards in record keeping.
  • Assist in the taking of patient observations and plot accurately on PEWS chart.
  • Support registered nursing staff with clinical treatments and investigations as appropriate, to the level of knowledge and skill. This may include the escort of patients to other departments within the hospital. Ensuring patient safety & dignity is maintained.
  • Chaperone patients during clinical examinations as and when required, ensuring the patients' privacy and dignity is maintained throughout.
  • Adherence to Trust Infection Control Policies.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • NVQ Health and social care level 2 or working towards or holds equivalent qualification.
  • GCSE in English and Maths.

Experience

  • Recent experience of caring for children within a health care setting.

Skills

  • Be able to work as part of a multi-professional team.
