We are recruiting for a Paediatric ADHD Nurse Specialist who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

To facilitate the assessment and management of Children and Young People (CYP) referred for assessment of possible Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) in a variety of settings.

To regularly evaluate the service provided for CYP, whose lives are affected by ADHD, with the QIPP agenda in mind.

Main duties of the job
  1. To manage the specialist assessment of CYP referred with ADHD and to implement and evaluate interventions in partnership with the care giver and the child in accordance with best practice.
  2. Provide advice, support and training to other nursing staff within the Division, CYP with ADHD and behavioural difficulties, and their parents/carers who require management.
  3. Work autonomously and to be accountable for own professional judgements and actions.
  4. Accept responsibility for own professional development.
  5. Participate in the prevention and early detection of abuse in all age groups.
  6. Work co-operatively with the Safeguarding Leads to ensure standards in Child Protection are developed and maintained.

Job responsibilities
  1. To develop the Trust operational policies as part of the multidisciplinary Community Paediatric Team and participate in the development of Services for children with ADHD.
  2. Adhere to procedures and protocols on moving and handling in line with current legislation.
  3. Ensures accurate record keeping as per Trust policy and NMC Guidelines on patient records.
  4. Develop and maintain support and after care of services for CYP and their families where there is a diagnosis of ADHD.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register or RN with School Nurse or Learning Disability qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice, uses own initiative and is able to take decisions.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Children and Young People.
  • An understanding of Audit and Research Based Nursing Practice.
  • Knowledge of the NMC Code of professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives.
Experience
  • Significant proven experience working within children's services.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within clinic or a community environment.
  • Experience in working with CAMHS or Community Paediatricians.
