Packing Manager – Food Manufacturing

Location: Moreton Valence
Shifts: Day shift (6 AM - 4 PM)
Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time

HR Employment is recruiting for an experienced Packing Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing business. This role is crucial in ensuring operational excellence across multiple packing lines, maintaining efficiency, and driving continuous improvement within the production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management – Oversee the main packing line, secondary packing line, and Online Packing areas to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  2. Health & Safety – Develop and enforce strict safety protocols, maintaining a safe and compliant working environment for all staff.
  3. Production Planning – Collaborate with the Warehouse, Engineering, and Logistics teams to formulate and implement effective packing plans, ensuring stock levels and customer supply are maintained.
  4. Stock Control & Rotation – Ensure strict FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation and maintain minimum stock holding levels of SKUs and packaging materials.
  5. Equipment & Maintenance – Work closely with the Engineering Team Leader to ensure all machinery is maintained in optimal condition with preventative maintenance programs (PPMs) in place.
  6. Training & Development – Ensure all staff are fully trained and signed off against Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and online training programs. Implement cross-training for workforce flexibility.
  7. Data & Compliance – Ensure all packing sheets are accurately completed, capturing throughput and downtime data. Oversee inventory control, including quarantine management and rework handling.
  8. Efficiency & Waste Reduction – Implement strategies to reduce production wastage, streamline changeovers, and eliminate non-value-added tasks.
  9. People Management – Conduct regular 1-to-1s, performance reviews, and progression planning to develop and retain talent within the production team.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. Proven experience in a Packing Manager or similar role within food manufacturing.
  2. Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in training & development.
  3. Knowledge of food production processes, health & safety standards, and quality compliance.
  4. Ability to manage production planning, stock control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and waste reduction.
  6. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Warehouse, production, Logistics, and Engineering teams.
