Printcraft is part of Card Factory plc, a retailer with over 1000 stores nationwide. Printcraft manufactures the group's UK greetings cards, wrap, and POS for stores. It is a forward-thinking business with state-of-the-art equipment operating a large site 24/7, producing around ¼ billion items per annum.

The role involves working a continental shift pattern, averaging 42 hours per week. This involves working 4x12-hour days, then 4 days rest, followed by 4x12-hour nights and then 4 days’ rest.

We are looking for a motivated Packing Machine Operator to join our team. The role involves extensive manual handling, including moving pallets of cards/envelopes around the machines, lifting products including cards/envelopes and rolls of film into high-speed machinery that will convert them into finished products. Basic computer operation is required to understand product information and instructions related to the products being produced.

Health & Safety rules must be adhered to, along with daily housekeeping, all supported by a daily time sheet that must be completed by each operator at the end of each shift.

Role Responsibility

• Communicating with colleagues
• Understanding and acting on instructions from the departmental supervisor
• Following the daily machine plan to ensure maximum efficiency and achievement of daily targets
• Manual handling (with the aid of manual pallet trucks)
• Mechanical knowledge for basic machine repairs and size changing of the machine
• Basic computer skills to produce product labels and obtain instructions related to product information
• Total awareness of the environment when the machine is in production due to high running speeds of equipment
• Completing understanding of all the safety elements and processes related to the equipment
• Ensuring all Health & Safety processes and procedures are fully understood and followed
