Packhouse Operator Job - Potato Farm - Forklift Driver - Essex
Responsibilities include operating potato grading equipment, forklift work for loading boxes into and out of storage, bagging, and performing light maintenance.
Work as part of a team of 5 staff members packing 4000 tons of potatoes for the London wholesale markets.
Potatoes are packed in 4kg and 25kg bags, with 25kg bag stacking largely automated.
Packing runs from November to July, with harvest occurring in September-October.
Normal Working Hours: 8am-1pm and 2pm-6pm, 5 days a week.
Harvest Hours: 8am-8pm, 7 days a week (harvest average is 19 working days).
Packing/grading shutdown is generally from mid-August to early September, with general farm work available during this time, although holidays can be taken.
Accommodation: A single occupancy mobile home, originally designed for a disabled person, providing more internal space. Gas and electric are provided free of charge. No smoking is allowed inside, but smokers can apply.
