Outdoor Learning Support Worker; Bristol

Axcis are working very closely with a specialist SEND school on the outskirts of Bristol near Pilning whose mission is to create a supportive and dynamic environment where pupils with Social and emotional mental health needs and mild learning needs can thrive and achieve their full potential. Their focus is delivering individualised educational experiences and actively incorporating forest school, sport and physical education into the curriculum to spark student interest and engagement. They are currently seeking talented individuals with a passion for sports, physical education, and youth development to join their team as Teaching Assistants, Sports Coaches, or Support Workers. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong desire to work with young people, particularly those who are facing barriers to education due to behavioural challenges.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver engaging sports and physical education sessions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all.
  2. Help in various subjects by providing tailored one-on-one or small group support.
  3. Act as a positive role model and build rapport with students, fostering trust and respect.
  4. Cultivate an inclusive setting that caters to the educational needs of each student.
  5. Utilise a proactive approach and your initiative to handle challenges and adapt to the needs of each individual.
  6. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and academic success.
  7. Facilitate extracurricular activities that contribute to students’ physical well-being and social growth.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience in sports coaching, teaching assistance, or support work (preferred).
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting effectively with pupils and staff.
  3. Capable of using positive behaviour management strategies to handle challenging situations.
  4. A caring and patient nature, with an unwavering commitment to student development.
  5. NVQ Level 2 or 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications is an advantage.
  6. Must pass an enhanced DBS check and possess the right to work in the UK.
