We are seeking an accomplished Director, Organizational Design & Development within our People Advisory Services practice to lead our Organization Design and Development service offerings. This strategic leadership role will help clients align their organizational structures with business strategy while building the capabilities needed for effective transformation. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in designing organizational structures and target operating models with the ability to implement development initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness. This integrated approach ensures our clients not only have optimally designed organizations but also the leadership, culture, and capabilities to thrive through change.
Responsibilities
Strategic Advisory & Client Leadership
- Provide executive-level consulting services in organization design, organizational development, target operating model creation, and related disciplines.
- Partner with C-suite executives to assess current organizational structures and capabilities, developing plans to support strategic transformation.
- Lead complex engagements that integrate structural design with the human and cultural elements of organizational change.
- Apply critical thinking to organizational challenges, using well-developed arguments, persuasion, and creativity to develop innovative solutions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients navigating organizational changes driven by business growth, technology implementation, mergers, or transformation.
Organization Design Leadership
- Direct the development of organizational structures and target operating models that support execution of client business strategies.
- Design governance frameworks, decision rights, and accountability models to enable effective organizational functioning.
- Lead organizational design diagnostics to identify structural barriers to performance and recommend solutions.
- Create frameworks for role design, spans and layers optimization, and structural efficiency.
- Develop processes that align structure with strategy, culture, processes, and technology.
- Apply leading practices in designing agile, network-based, and matrix organizational models.
Organizational Development Expertise
- Lead initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness through leadership development, team effectiveness, and cultural transformation.
- Design interventions that build organizational capabilities and enhance performance.
- Develop approaches for measuring and improving organizational health and effectiveness.
- Create strategies for capability building that support newly designed organizational structures.
- Integrate change management approaches into organizational transformation programs.
- Design talent strategies that align with organizational structure and operating models.
Business Development & Practice Growth
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target sectors and clients.
- Lead proposal development and orals presentations for major opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior executives that generate sustained consulting engagements.
- Support the achievement of annual revenue targets of $2-3M+ for the Organization Design & Development offerings.
- Maintain personal sales targets of $750K annually through new business development and account expansion.
- Meet or exceed personal utilization targets of 75% while balancing business development activities.
- Collaborate with partners and other directors to develop cross-service opportunities.
- Contribute to the growth and profitability of the People Advisory Services practice.
Project & Engagement Leadership
- Lead large, complex organizational transformation projects using standard project management practices.
- Manage multiple concurrent client engagements, ensuring quality delivery and client satisfaction.
- Direct project planning, tracking status and deliverables across engagement portfolios.
- Drive project profitability by effectively managing scope, resources, and delivery efficiency.
- Develop integrated solutions that combine organization design, development, and change management.
- Oversee the creation of high-quality deliverables including organizational assessments, design options, and implementation roadmaps.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Build and lead teams of organization design and development specialists within the People Advisory Services practice.
- Mentor consultants and managers to develop organizational effectiveness capabilities.
- Create opportunities for team members to grow through challenging client engagements.
- Foster a collaborative culture that promotes innovation and excellence.
- Manage resource allocation and utilization across multiple engagements, optimizing team deployment.
- Monitor and manage team economics including chargeability, utilization, and revenue per professional.
- Support practice profitability through strategic staffing decisions and effective project delivery management.
Thought Leadership & Innovation
- Develop intellectual property that enhances our organizational effectiveness capabilities.
- Create methodologies, frameworks, and tools for organization design and target operating model development.
- Author thought leadership on emerging organizational models and future of work trends.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences and executive forums.
- Drive innovation in organizational effectiveness approaches and solutions.

Experience & Expertise
- Years of consulting experience with expertise in both organization design and development.
- Proven track record designing target operating models across multiple industries.
- Experience leading large-scale organizational transformation programs.
- Successful client relationship management at the executive level.
- Demonstrated business development success with consistent sales achievement.
