Oracle DBA-- Remote - UK - Permanent
Role purpose:
As part of an exciting Digital Transformation journey, my client is seeking a skilled Oracle DBA to support strategic project initiatives. Reporting to the Oracle OCI Architect DBA, the Oracle DBA (BOS) will play a crucial role in maintaining the Oracle EBS business-facing platform, which encompasses the primary business operating system, client portal, system integrations, and field service platform.
The Oracle DBA will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, and optimization of the Oracle EBS business-facing platform. This includes managing database configurations, ensuring data integrity, and implementing backup and recovery strategies. The DBA will also monitor system performance, troubleshoot database issues, and apply necessary patches and upgrades to maintain system reliability. Additionally, they will collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements, ensuring efficient data management and accessibility.
Furthermore, the Oracle DBA will be tasked with writing and executing scripts to analyze and update data within the BOS platform, ensuring alignment with business needs. This role will also involve implementing and overseeing monitoring activities for the BOS platform and its integrations with other business systems, facilitating a seamless flow of data across platforms and enhancing overall system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Administration: Manage and maintain the Oracle EBS database environment, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and analyze database performance, implementing tuning strategies to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and execute backup and recovery plans to safeguard data integrity and ensure business continuity.
- Patch Management: Apply necessary patches and updates to the database systems to maintain security and functionality.
- Data Integrity: Ensure data accuracy and consistency through regular audits and validation processes.
- Scripting and Automation: Write and maintain scripts for data analysis, updates, and automation of routine database tasks.
- Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with application developers to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Implement monitoring tools and generate reports to track database health, performance metrics, and incident resolution.
- Incident Management: Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, coordinating with relevant teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Knowledge Management: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and changes to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Oracle database management systems (currently 19c).
- Skills with Oracle Exadata, GoldenGate, and other Oracle tools.
- Familiarity with SQL and PL/SQL programming languages.
- Knowledge of database design, documentation, and coding practices.
- Skills with Fusion Middleware and knowledge of integration tools and middleware solutions.
- Operating Systems: Skills with UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems, including shell scripting.
- Performance Tuning: Strong skills in database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Backup and Recovery: Expertise in backup and recovery strategies, including RMAN (Recovery Manager).
- Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with database monitoring tools and techniques to ensure system health and performance.
