Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Optical Trainer with 1 year experience to join a charitable organisation, specialising in optical training.


This part-time role (2-3 days per week) offers excellent benefits and a salary range of £15,000 - £18,000.


As an Optical Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering hands-on optical and retail training to female prisoners, supporting their skill development.


Your Responsibilities:
  1. Providing structured training in optical retail and optics-related skills.
  2. Supporting trainees with assessments to enhance competency and improve pass rates.
  3. Building and maintaining positive relationships with prison staff and trainees.
  4. Ensuring a professional and ethical approach in all aspects of training.
  5. Submitting accurate reports on trainee progress, attendance, and outcomes.

What We Are Looking For:
  1. Experience working as an Optical Trainer, Optician, Optical Assistant or in a similar role.
  2. At least 1 year of experience working in optics.
  3. Confidence with numerical tasks.
  4. Ideally hold A-Level or equivalent qualification.
  5. Skilled in IT, particularly with Google applications such as Google Drive and Gmail.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
