We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant/Ophthalmic Technician to join our outstanding team at Eye of York in York, PA. Our ideal candidate is already a certified Medical Assistant/Ophthalmic Technician. However, we will provide on-the-job training to the right candidates as they work toward certification. We also pay for education assistance! In this role, your primary responsibilities are to assist the providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and other administrative tasks.

Hours are Monday-Wednesday, 7:30 am-4:30 PM; Tuesday and Thursday, 7:00 am-4:30 pm; and Friday, 7:30 am-12:30 pm.No Weekends!

*Ophthalmic Technician Experience Required.

Responsibilities

1. Take medical histories and verify information.
2. Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy.
3. Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements.
4. Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues.
5. Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam.
6. Explain how to use eye drops or other medications properly.
7. Explain how to use contact lenses properly.
8. Assist with clinical supplies and clinic functionality.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED certificate.
2. Completion of an ophthalmic assistant or technician program strongly preferred (COA or COT).
3. Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is required.
4. Experience with EMR tools a plus.
5. Proficient with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word).
