Job description

About Us

The Entrepreneurship Institute exists to support entrepreneurial thinking, skills and experiences amongst King’s students, staff and alumni. No matter the career, skills to innovate and to be entrepreneurial will be invaluable. We support people to have careers as entrepreneurs and start up innovative new businesses and social enterprises, but also to be innovative in their chosen career – whatever that might be. We are a fast-paced and high performing team delivering a range of programmes and initiatives at scale across the university.

Our vision is that by 2029 everyone at King’s will have had the opportunity to make entrepreneurship part of their DNA.

The Operations Officer will provide essential support to enable the Entrepreneurship Institute (EI) to continue scaling its programmes, delivering meaningful impact for students, staff, and alumni in developing entrepreneurial skills, start-ups and spinouts.

About The Role

In this role, you will enhance the efficiency, productivity, and culture of our team while also engaging directly with our audiences and start-ups, to maximise their participation in our programmes.

You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the Entrepreneurship Institute across key areas, including programmes, events, community activation, space management, finance administration, HR support, sustainability, evaluation, and team culture.

This is a hands-on, front-facing position that requires a proactive and detail-oriented approach to managing the EI’s space, community, and event operations. You will be instrumental in creating a welcoming, efficient, and well-organised environment for our team, start-ups, and the wider EI community.

The position is based at Bush House, London, with an expectation to be on campus at least three days per week. Out of hours, evening and weekend work is occasionally required, with advance warning. The post holder will report directly to the Operations Manager and work collaboratively across the Entrepreneurship Institute team, and wider King’s network. The position is a fixed term contract for 3 years.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, events, and day-to-day operations simultaneously while ensuring smooth coordination and efficiency.
  • Experience in fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment, engaging with a diverse range of members, and leading community activation initiatives.
  • A proactive and “can-do” attitude, comfortable with both high-level coordination and hands-on tasks, such as restocking amenities, setting up event spaces, or unloading the dishwasher when needed.
  • Experience in planning, executing, and managing logistical aspects of events, programmes, and office operations to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Ability to oversee financial processes, handle invoicing, and ensure smooth office administration with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, responding to changing needs, and proactively identifying and resolving challenges as they arise.

Desirable criteria

  • Demonstrated experience or understanding of embedding EDI principles into workplace culture, team development, and community engagement.
  • Understanding of student engagement, support structures, and programme delivery within a university or educational setting, with experience in managing student-focused initiatives.
  • Familiarity with entrepreneurship programmes, start-up ecosystems, and enterprise education, with the ability to support and enhance initiatives that develop entrepreneurial mindsets.
