Job Description
Overview: The Young Learner Operations Manager supports the operational aspects of BSC Young Learners on a day-to-day basis. In addition to supporting planning and preparation, the role provides guidance and support to all temporary Centre and Activity Managers working within the Young Learners Department. Managing the Operations team and working in conjunction with the Head of Young Leaders, Sales, Admissions & Marketing the Operations Manager supports operational planning, operations delivery and operations management of the Young Learner programmes.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Young Learners with:
- Implementation of the YL strategic plan
- Research and preparation for opening new YL programmes and centres
- Provision of leadership to all temporary YL team members
- Liaison planning with Host Schools & Colleges
- Creation and delivery of all YL Operations team liaison and training year round
- Accreditation, being the lead support person for non-academic content
- YL Administration
- Ensuring the implementation of the ‘Great Things Start Here’ plan
- Actively sourcing new suppliers and partnerships
- Recruitment and HR
- Support HR with all YL non-academic team recruitment through co-ordination of non-academic recruitment for spring and summer programmes as well as low season groups.
- Attending job fairs, open days and other recruitment initiatives as required
- Following best practice for ‘Safer Recruitment’
- Monitoring performance of the YL temporary team including appraisal system implementation & management
- Support CMs with disciplinary procedures in collaboration with the People and Performance team and the Head of Young Learners
- Centre Oversight
- Act as a centre manager during the Summer programmes
- Support the Winter programmes by having a presence at the centre
- Support the Head of Young Learners to ensure consistency and standardisation of programmes across the portfolio
- Ensuring centres have enough resources, team and support during centre operations
- Support the Head of Young Learners in providing training and support prior to and throughout programmes.
- Maintain financial oversight of onsite spend and oversight of site usage.
- Centre Training
- Deliver relevant training and lead temporary management teams throughout the year
- Coordinating Fidelo School Management System training for non-academic teams
- Coordinating and maintaining the allocation chart weekly
- Support in the delivery of training for the Young Learner activity programmes and pastoral care
- Supporting the temporary operations team in the planning and delivery of centre management training.
- YL Administrator and social media
- Overseeing, posting and monitoring of social media posts for YL programmes
- Working irregular hours and travelling within the requirements of the role
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility for this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
- Safeguarding
- To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are responsible for and come into contact with
- To adhere to the BSC Young Learners safeguarding policy, ensuring it is followed by centre teams at all times
- To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead for all YL operations
Specific Role Requirements
- Experience of multi-site summer school management (particularly Centre Manager position)
- Child Protection training
- Safer Recruitment training
- IT proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
- Cultural understanding
