Operations Manager - Active Fire

Are you a fire safety professional with deep knowledge of active fire systems? Do you have a proven track record of leading teams and delivering fire alarm and life safety system projects in social housing? If so, we want to hear from you.

My client is an established and fast-growing property services provider, delivering safety-critical services in the social housing sector. Seeking a skilled and driven Operations Manager - Active Fire to take ownership of our fire alarms and life safety systems division.

The Role:

You'll be leading the delivery of fire detection and alarm system installations, servicing, and remedial works across our social housing contracts. With a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational efficiency, you'll manage engineers, coordinate with clients, and ensure high-quality outcomes across the board.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee the end-to-end delivery of active fire safety services, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, AOVs, and related systems.
  2. Lead, support, and develop a team of engineers and supervisors.
  3. Ensure all works are delivered in line with relevant standards (BS 5839, BS 5266) and meet regulatory and client requirements.
  4. Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources for planned and reactive fire safety works.
  5. Build strong relationships with housing clients and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  6. Monitor KPIs, compliance reporting, and health & safety performance across all contracts.
What You'll Bring:
  1. Proven experience managing active fire safety operations, ideally within social housing or public sector environments.
  2. In-depth technical knowledge of fire alarms and life safety systems.
  3. Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations.
  4. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  5. Relevant qualifications (e.g., FIA modules, Fire Alarm Design/Commissioning certs, or equivalent).
