Full time, Permanent 37.5 hours

Circa £50 – £55k depending upon experience.

The Operations Manager, reporting directly to the CEO, will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day to day operations of the charity in line with its strategic plans, through leading and supporting the administration team.

This is a senior position within the organisation and the post holder will be required to support teams from all levels and across all departments. Ensuring all charity activities are aligned with the organisation’s mission and goals, and that resources are effectively sourced and utilised to maximise impact and outcomes for our beneficiaries.

You will also monitor and identify areas for improvement across the charity’s activities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation and its teams.

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field such as adult social care/social housing.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing a diverse team and collaborating with a range of stakeholders where communication and strong leadership will be required.

Additionally, candidates should have a solid understanding of nonprofit budget management, and compliance with regulatory requirements of adult social care. The ability to think strategically, problem-solve, work unsupervised and adapt to changing circumstances is crucial in this role.

Responsibilities

  1. Implement business strategies, plans and procedures, supporting departments in their goals.
  2. Undertake supervision and appraisals for key staff, setting comprehensive goals and key performance indicators.
  3. Highly visible leader working on site.
  4. Evaluate organisational and individual performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics.
  5. Write and submit reports requested by the CEO.
  6. Assist CEO in administration and/or presentation of charity governance requirement.
  7. Chair operational meetings such as Department Heads and Health & Safety meetings and lead on the delivery of our Environmental Social Governance Strategy.
  8. Promote the vision, mission and core values of the charity at all times.

Person Specification – Skills / Experience

Essential

  1. Experienced in designing and implementing organisational change within a nonprofit organisation, preferably within Adult Social Care, Housing and/or Estates Management.
  2. Experience of local authority Procurement practices.
  3. Understanding of contractual agreements and the implementations of such.
  4. Proven history of managing senior employees, delivering 1-1 supervision/appraisals within a similar size organisation.
  5. Exceptional understanding of charity business functions such as HR, Finance, Marketing, etc.
  6. Ability to Negotiate and Influence.
  7. Strong Customer Focus – Proactive approach.
  8. Demonstrable competency in operational planning and business development.
  9. Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office packages.
  10. Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities.
  11. Excellent people skills.
  12. Clear and concise communicator.
  13. Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
  14. Self-directed and personally driven.
  15. BSc/BA in Business Administration (or other relevant field).
  16. Flexible, dependable and able to work to the charitable values of the organisation.
  17. Ability to work flexibly, ensuring the needs of our beneficiaries are prioritised, even if this requires working outside contracted hours on occasion.
  18. Familiar with Compliance and Risk Management Schemes.
  19. Awareness of Social Housing – Legislation.
