On-Air Producer (Freelance)

Client: multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate

Freelance - 3-4 shifts per week (includes days, nights and weekends)

PAYE/Umbrella hourly rate + overtime rate

The role will require working on a shift basis which will include weekends, evenings and public holidays.

General Summary:

This key and multifunctional role within Network Origination Services is responsible for following agreed procedures, meeting client expectations, and ensuring all live programming strategies are adhered to during live broadcasts and productions. The On-Air Producer is accountable for revenue management through commercial maximisation and provides direction to Live Playout Operators on programming needs including the implementation of emergency protocol for localised and multiplatform pan regional live broadcasts. The role acts as the main point of contact during live broadcast with proactive editorial judgement subject to client guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Be part of the planning & execution of over 5000 hours of localised live events per year
2. Closely liaising with technical & operations departments ensuring alignment prior to on-air
3. Execute the plans agreed by Programme Planning, Production, Bookings and Network Scheduling teams to provide a seamless on-air experience to the viewers
4. Revenue management: keeping commercial inventory fully optimised and identifying further maximisation opportunities within the schedule
5. Main POC for internal and external Live Programming and Production teams
6. Monitoring the feed and ensuring smooth execution of additional GFX if required
7. Monitoring compliance at all times and reporting possible breaches on air
8. Maintain a high level of reliability on live broadcasts and continuously keep skills honed and up to date with business needs
9. Assisting, training and supporting team members within the On-Air Production team if/when required

Requirements:

1. At least 3 years' experience within a Live environment
2. Gallery production experience preferable
3. Shift work and following the flow of the business, therefore working during unsociable hours will be required
4. Well-developed communication skills
5. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
6. Good IT skills and What's On experience or experience of a similar scheduling system.
7. Ability to work well and adopt a calm approach under pressure
8. Flexibility and adaptability to different demands
