Job Description


Their transmission & distribution division is looking for Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineers to join their Engineering team. They are a key player in providing engineering and construction services to the UK transmission and distribution sector, actively contributing to the net zero 2050 initiative.


Their secured workstream guarantees long-term opportunities as they deliver essential new build infrastructure in the UK. As a selected ASTI contractor, they are dedicated to enhancing network capacity to support the UK government's 2030 goals and the transition to net zero. These positions offer a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility between home and office locations in Glasgow, Horsham, or the Midlands. While open to considering other locations, preference will be given to candidates willing to work from Horsham or Glasgow office.


Looking for professionals skilled in PLS CADD/ Tower and CAD, with a passion for sharing technical ideas and collaborating with our construction team. Responsibilities


What You Will Do:


  1. Complete overhead line design studies to support construction and consultancy projects. HV 132KV
  2. Set up and develop transmission line models.
  3. Produce electrical line performance assessments and all electrical safety studies.
  4. Produce or utilise OHL support models within the transmission design models.
  5. Evaluate, select, and quantify transmission line components on projects.
  6. Support safety by design assessments throughout the design process.
  7. Integrate and support the development of innovation within project solutions.
  8. Create design deliverables to confirm the outputs of the engineering studies to internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Ensure, as far as practicable, that all assigned work is conducted in compliance with the agreed budget and programme.
  10. Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope.

Qualifications


Essential:


  1. Degree in engineering, or applicable related discipline.
  2. Basic understanding of overhead transmission line design.
  3. Ability to utilise PLS CADD/ Tower to develop design outputs.
  4. Fluent spoken and written English language.
  5. Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft Teams.
  6. Ability to work effectively in a diverse team.
  7. Awareness of key Health and Safety impacts on OHL construction contracts.

Desirable:


  1. Ability to use CAD design software.
  2. Ability to create PLS CADD Models from topographical survey data.
