Role: Office Manager - Contract - Belfast
Job Overview
VANRATH is delighted to be supporting one of Northern Ireland's leading public sector employers in their search for an Office Manager to cover a six-month period. The successful postholder will be responsible for the comprehensive management of the existing administrative team, ensuring the leadership team receives high-quality and effective support.

  • Salary: £28,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administrative function for the Chairman and Chief Executive, ensuring efficient operations and continuous improvement.
  • Manage incoming correspondence, address queries, and ensure timely responses.
  • Maintain filing systems, manage office supplies, and coordinate travel and requisitions.
  • Plan and support corporate events, liaising with external organisations as needed.
  • Supervise administrative staff, ensuring smooth office operations and managing recruitment.
  • Ensure effective communication and contribute to the development of office protocols.
  • Supervise staff, delegate tasks, and provide training as required.
  • Promote equality, adhere to policies, and maintain health and safety standards.
  • Take responsibility for personal development and maintain a professional manner in all interactions.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree and 1 year's staff supervision experience (Band 4 or equivalent)
    OR
    5 years' admin experience, including 2 years supervising staff (Band 4 or equivalent)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, databases)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (unless exempt due to disability)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • RSA Typing / ECDL or equivalent qualification
  • Business Administration or Management qualification
  • Confident telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience minute-taking at committee level
  • Able to work independently and use own initiative
