Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor (WCH)

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor 22.5 hours per week, permanent contract.

Band 2 - 3 development post will be considered and expected to be achieved within 18 months (maximum). For the development post you will be expected to complete Diploma level 3 in health and social care to progress to band 3.

We are looking for a friendly and motivated individual to join our Occupational Therapy team at the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven as an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor.

Main duties of the job

The Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor will assist the Occupational Therapist to carry out delegated duties, within the acute team at the West Cumberland Hospital.

They will supervise and instruct patients in activities relating to their treatment programme and regularly feedback to the Occupational Therapist.

The service is part of a strong Occupational Therapy network, with links to the team at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, as well as the wider health and social care settings across North Cumbria. This provides many professional development opportunities and there is a strong focus on CPD within the team. Experience

  • Work as an occupational therapy assistant or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of working in an MDT.
  • Caring responsibilities.
  • Experience of facilitating groups.
  • Employment in an acute hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Care Certificate or the willingness and ability to undertake.
  • GCSE English and maths or equivalent.
  • Essential IT skills (EITS) or equivalent.
  • QCF III (health), equivalent or willingness and ability to undertake.
