Job description

Our client has a fantastic rewarding opportunity for a Lead Occupational Therapist permanent vacancy based in Potters Bar/Hertfordshire in their established hospital.

Job Title: Lead Occupational Therapist - Permanent
Location: Potters Bar / Hertfordshire
Salary: £45,000 depending on experience
Hours: Full Time
Client Group: Adult and adolescents with Mental Health acute wards and 2 CAHMS low secure wards.

You will be joining a service for adults and adolescents with Mental Health issues. Potters Bar consists of 2 adult acute wards and 2 CAHMS low secure wards.

Job Role:

  1. As the Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be managing and leading the Occupational Therapy Service across the CAMHS and Adult services, using evidence-based and patient-centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which provide patients with the confidence, skills, and coping strategies required for independent living.
  2. You will report directly to the Therapy Lead, with the opportunity to work autonomously in your running of the OT department. Given the complexity of the CAMHS cases, it is expected that the majority of your direct clinical work will be on the CAMHS wards, and you will be an 'internal care coordinator' to some of the families.
  3. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities, and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication by the Occupational Therapists.
  4. Receiving and responding promptly to referrals, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritize patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.
  5. Working to develop living skills, rehabilitation, and educational opportunities/therapies under the strategic direction of the Therapy Lead and other members of the Senior Management Team.
  6. Ensuring the effective and efficient management of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Assistants, and students.
  7. Planning and implementing individual and group interventions collaboratively with Service users.

You will need to be confident in the application of your OT skills and knowledge but also highly adaptable, and able to tailor your intervention to the needs of our service users. The young people on the CAMHS wards in particular, often have highly complex backgrounds with co-morbid presentations, and have experienced a number of unsuccessful interventions, and often a number of previous inpatient admissions. You will need to be patient, sensitive, and determined to engage them in therapy.

Requirements:

  1. To be qualified and registered as an Occupational Therapist.
  2. At least 3 years post qualifying experience.
  3. Substantial experience of working within Mental Health, preferably with both CAMHS and Adult experience.
  4. Substantial experience of inpatient work.

Client Offers:

  1. Annual salary of up to £45,000 depending on experience.
  2. The equivalent of 33 days annual leave (inc Bank Holidays) - plus your birthday off!
  3. Free meals and parking.
  4. Wellbeing support and activities to help you maintain a great work-life balance.
  5. Career development and training to help you achieve your career goals.
  6. Pension contribution to secure your future.
  7. Life Assurance for added peace of mind.
  8. Enhanced Maternity Package so you can truly enjoy this special time.
  9. There is also a range of other benefits including retail discounts and special offers, car leasing without a credit check, and much more.
