Job summary

Are you looking for opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge, and the provision of Occupational Therapy in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Eating Disorders?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to work in our Swindon CAMHS Eating Disorders Service (TEDS) and the wider multi-disciplinary CAMH Service, developing occupational therapy in the teams.

TEDS is a passionate multi-disciplinary team across 5 bases in Bath, North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) delivering NICE recommended treatments and is accredited by the Quality Network for CAMHS (QNCC).

You will work in Swindon CAMHS, and join an experienced team, inputting into pathway developments, delivering high quality care and working alongside experienced colleagues including clinical leads, psychologists, nurses, dietitians, family therapists and consultant psychiatrists.

As one of two lead Occupational Therapy specialists within TEDS teams, you will take a lead on the development and provision of Occupational Therapy, using assessments and outcome measures such as MOHO, COSA and TOMS.

Main duties of the job

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  1. To operate as a specialist occupational therapy practitioner and manage an appropriate clinical caseload.
  2. To undertake specialist occupational therapy assessment of service users with eating disorders using enhanced clinical skills.
  3. To promote evidence-based practice in occupational therapy and eating disorders.
  4. To provide a specialised range of clinical interventions and demonstrate knowledge of models of practice.

Essential
  • Strong knowledge and skills in assessing risk and developing safety/management plans
Desirable
  • Experience of working with eating disorders patients.
Qualifications - Academic/Skills/Professional
Essential
  • Occupational Therapist with Dip RCOT qualification or BSc in Occupational Therapy
  • Current and up to date registration with relevant professional body- HCPC.
Experience
Essential
  • Experience of caseload management of complex conditions & cases.
  • Experience of delivering clinical supervision for registered and non-registered staff, including students.
Desirable
  • Experience of providing high quality assessments and interventions for people with an eating disorder
Personal Qualities

  • Ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Able to manage a caseload, set priorities and work with members of a multi-disciplinary team.
