Job description

This is an opportunity to work as an Occupational Therapist Assistant at Bromley Road Hospital, a rehabilitation service for women with enduring mental health issues, complex needs and complicated addiction problems. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting service users in their therapy programmes, building coping strategies and increasing their life skills.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will assist, support and maintain Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans. You will also help service users achieve their goals and access appropriate services, as well as maintain adequate records and enter details in the service user healthcare records.

Job responsibilities

Join Bromley Road Hospital as an Occupational Therapist Assistant and change the lives of women with enduring mental health issues, complex needs and complicated addiction problems. Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you will support the service in delivering structured activities and assisting in the planning for individual and group therapeutic interventions. You will build one-to-one rapports with service users to encourage participation in activities and empower recovery. As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will contribute to the assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of structured activities in order to measure progression and ensure effectiveness. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant you will be:
  • Assisting, supporting and maintaining Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
  • Assisting and supporting service users to achieve their goals and access appropriate services.
  • Assisting, supporting and maintaining adequate records, entering details in the service user healthcare records.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • GCSE/O-Levels (A-C) or a relevant NVQ2.
  • Experience in a similar environment & Mental Health
  • Verbal and written communication skills
Where you will be working:

Location: 84-86 Bromley Road, Catford, London, SE6 2UR. You will work at Bromley Road, a rehabilitation service for women with enduring mental health issues, complex needs and complicated addiction problems. You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team to deliver positive support and risk reduction strategies, as well as providing opportunities for social inclusion and building skills for independent living.
