An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Autism Service based at Tonna Hospital. This post is particularly suited to a motivated, experienced and skilled Occupational Therapist who is competent in providing compassionate and person-centred care.

We are seeking an individual with excellent clinical skills who is enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated, to work within a very supportive multidisciplinary team. This post involves close working relationships with the senior multidisciplinary team in driving service development. There is opportunity for training to be provided for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

The role will be responsible for the management and development of the service as well as maintaining a clinical caseload. A commitment to collaborative working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team is essential. We actively support the education of Occupational Therapy students within our service.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and clinical skills, along with experience of service development and quality improvement.

To manage a defined caseload within specialist area, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate; hospital, community, patients' homes, schools, outpatient settings and maintaining associated records. To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.

To work in partnership with clients, carers and all stakeholders including the multidisciplinary/multi-agency team to identify relevant goals.

To provide leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor/team leader.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification)
  • Professional Registration with HCPC
  • Specific recognised postgraduate training/courses relevant to specialist area equivalent to masters level
  • Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students
  • Leadership/management training
  • Membership of professional body BAOT

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning intervention and evaluation within relevant clinical area
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Knowledge of OT role in this setting
  • Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance and the ability to apply to working practice.
  • Experience of research and/or audit and implementing evidence based practice
