We are excited to announce that we have a fixed-term Band 6 Occupational Therapist position within the Alderney Inpatient Therapy Team working 25 hours a week.
The Therapy Team provide rehabilitation for patients at Alderney Hospital and the D2A beds currently at Figbury Lodge Care Home. The post will involve managing a case load of patients for a period of assessment and rehabilitation, optimising function and supporting their transition back home.
The cohort of patients offers experience of working with wide ranging pathologies including orthopaedics, frailty, amputees, PD and neurological conditions. You will work closely with MDT colleagues and the wider therapy team to complete multifactorial assessments and comprehensive treatment plans.
This role includes the supervision of therapy assistants, Band 5 therapists and students in practice and there will be opportunities to contribute to Quality Improvement work. You will also be supported to progress your own development and expertise.
Being a car driver and having access to a car for work purposes is essential for this role.

To manage a caseload of patients providing specialist care, assessments and interventions, as part of the wider multi-disciplinary care team.
Completion of home visits and equipment provision with relevant risk assessments and care plans. Having a good working knowledge of moving and handling principles and equipment available to support safe patient care.
Provide OT intervention and case management to patients at both Alderney Community Hospital and Figbury Lodge Care Home.
Utilising the D2A process to refer patients for ongoing care and rehab in the community.
Bank holiday and weekend working is required on a rota basis, clinicians are currently working approximately one weekend day every 4 to 6 weeks.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
