This is a hybrid role where you will regularly work from home but be expected to travel to CGI offices or client sites occasionally.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Technical designer and developer for observability code and architecture, responsible for overall code quality
• Design, prototype, implement, test, and deploy observability solutions such as monitoring, logging, and tracing
• Develop custom integration components (e.g., data collectors, exporters) and integrate legacy systems with observability tools using relevant technologies
• Develop existing and custom applications within the observability platform, including integrations with other applications
• Hands-on experience in developing dashboards and alerts for comprehensive observability
• Create and use CI/CD pipelines to move customisations between different environments
• Design for and maintain a highly available and recoverable environment
• Provide administrative observability support, including advanced support via troubleshooting, implementing bug fixes, and root cause analysis
• Document, maintain, and update policies, procedures, and controls for the operation of the observability platform and its SDLC
• Review requirements to ensure they are provided in sufficient detail to be accurately estimated
• Work with application development teams to fully understand data detail, meaning, and design desired outcomes for observability
• Commit to continuous improvement and learning of development and observability best practices, tools, and technology
• Proactively keep observability skills current

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Demonstrable experience in observability development and IT service management process design
• Experience with open-source observability tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry, Log pipelines, and others
• Fundamental understanding of the key technologies relevant to observability solutions, including APIs, web services, and integration techniques
• Ability to apply business concepts into a technical solution
• Web development skills, such as Python, JavaScript, and related frameworks
• Experience implementing core observability components like metrics collection, logging, tracing, and alerting
• Ability to create detailed reports and dashboards using standard observability tools
• Follow best practices for observability (including scripting, security, implementation)
• Display aptitude in learning new observability modules and technologies based on training materials
• Experience with collaboration across functional borders enterprise-wide (i.e., within and outside of IT)
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
