Location: Ipswich

Hours: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £40,000 - £42,607.50 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Lead and support the nursing team to enhance care quality, providing guidance and advice to both colleagues and families. Effectively delegate tasks and assess team performance to ensure safe and high-quality care.
  • Manage the care of a specific group of service users, coordinating with the multi-disciplinary team, service users, and their families to develop and oversee care plans. Monitor and evaluate the impact of policy changes on care practices.
  • Work in partnership with the Head of Clinical Services/Ward Manager to evaluate and admit new service users, collaborating with Health and Social Services commissioners. Design, implement, and review customised care plans based on the latest research and best practices.
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date records of service user interactions, adhering to legal and procedural standards in both digital and paper formats.
  • Ensure that all clinical staff, including yourself, receive regular supervision and professional development according to our clients' standards. Uphold clinical excellence through consistent competency assessments.
  • Identify staff training needs and foster a learning environment that promotes knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices.
  • Educate and support patients, their families, and colleagues through structured and informal teaching. Mentor students and evaluate their performance as needed.
  • Adhere to our clients' policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant working environment. Undertake additional reasonable duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of services.

Requirements of the Nursing Team Leader:

  • Registered Nurse or degree-level qualification
  • Experience in specialist palliative or neurological care, depending on service requirements
  • Proven skills in leading, building, and influencing in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of current legislation within the independent care sector
  • Demonstrable experience of practising in a self-directed and highly motivated manner
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey difficult messages to service users and their families
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Ability to effectively manage change and performance
  • Capability to provide teaching and mentorship in a clinical setting
