Your new school
A primary school dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for its students, especially in their community where many families face significant challenges. The school is a beacon of hope and opportunity locally, and they are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of their young learners.

Your new role
You will teach a nursery class of 27 children, 2 of whom are older than nursery age, but working at nursery age ability. Covering a maternity leave from February half-term for at least the remainder of the 2025 calendar year (maybe 1 year until February 2026), you will undertake the full role of class teacher, including planning (you will receive PPA time) and attending weekly staff meetings (Wednesdays). You will be a passionate and dedicated Early Years Teacher, and will work alongside a Level 3 qualified TA and a Level 2 qualified TA within the nursery, as well as the Reception class teacher who you will share an outside area and PPA time with. The nursery has the opportunity to be a shared space with the reception room, allowing collaborative work in the early years.

  1. Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons and activities for children aged 3.
  2. Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  3. Assess and monitor child progress, providing regular feedback to parents and caregivers.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
  5. Support the social and emotional development of children, recognising and addressing any barriers to learning.
  6. Support and encourage the development of children through modelling the use of cutlery at the table.
  7. Engage with the wider community to support the holistic development of the school's children.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal nursery teacher for this maternity leave cover will have a strong commitment to fostering a love of learning in children and the ability to create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment. • Strong understanding of early childhood development and best practices in early years education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.

  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of children and their families.
  • Competitive salary.
  • The support of your own dedicated Consultant, who will work with you throughout your career working for Hays.
