Job description

Nursery Room Leader

* Attractive pay rates + extensive benefits, including great training

* Full-time, Monday-Friday

* Flax Bourton, Somerset

We are looking for a Room Leader for our fantastic, unique nursery set in a beautiful Georgian property within its own grounds in the picturesque village of Flax Bourton.

Established in 2010, our nursery offers an extensive outdoor space; perfect for activities such as Forest School. Inside, we have created a wonderful 'home from home' atmosphere where we feel our children can truly develop a sense of self.

We have a 9.6 out of 10 rating on Day Nurseries with most recent reviews saying things like “We looked around a few nurseries for our child, but Charlton Nursery and its caring atmosphere was head and shoulders above the rest” and “Charlton Nursery has been such a great support and addition to my son's life! He's constantly learning and growing with the support, care and love. I couldn't ask for better people to look after him, he loves them all!”.

As Room Leader, you'll oversee the day-to-day running of your room, take responsibility for the care, well-being and safety of all children and staff, and be approachable for parents and colleagues. You'll also play an active role in the senior management team, help to induct, train, coach, mentor and supervise Nursery Practitioners, and ensure that high standards of care and education are maintained at all times.

What you'll need:

  1. A minimum of 2 years of experience working in an early years setting.
  2. A relevant childcare qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Early Years Educator, or equivalent).
  3. Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and current childcare legislation.
  4. Excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  5. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  6. A genuine passion for working with young children and a commitment to providing high-quality care and education.
  7. First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications are highly desirable.

So, if you're passionate about early years education and have a genuine desire to provide the best possible experience for every child in our care, this is a great opportunity to develop yourself professionally in an environment that nurtures staff including a thorough induction programme and ongoing training.

In return, you can expect an industry-leading salary, plus excellent benefits including:

  1. Free parking in our nursery car park
  2. Free staff lunches
  3. Free childcare for staff children attending our nursery
  4. Bonus day off on your birthday
  5. Increased holiday entitlement with length of service up to a maximum of 7.5 weeks a year
  6. Homemade birthday cake to share with your colleagues to celebrate your birthday
  7. Cycle to work scheme
