Nursery Crop Manager – Essex- Competitive Salary + Accommodation

The Job:
A well-established commercial nursery is seeking a Nursery Crop Manager to take the lead on crop production across multiple sites. The role focuses on producing high-quality plants in a cost-effective and efficient manner while maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing plant production operations across nursery locations
  • Collaborating with commercial teams for timely procurement of seeds and materials
  • Forecasting crop volumes and planning crop trials to meet production goals
  • Monitoring pest, disease, and weed control in line with industry hygiene and safety standards
  • Ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements (e.g. LEAF, Red Tractor)
  • Supervising and developing crop production teams, including performance and holiday planning
  • Managing nursery equipment use and site cleanliness
  • Providing regular updates, stock tracking, and end-of-season reports to senior leadership
  • Supporting knowledge-sharing and training across departments on best horticultural practices
