Job description

Do you enjoy working outdoors? Do you have an interest in horticulture?

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and adaptable team player to work as Nursery Assistant within the potting team at our Hillier Wholesale Nursery at our plant nursery near Romsey, Hampshire.

The role involves working outside in inclement weather conditions, so the love of the outdoors is essential. Whilst previous experience of working in a similar role would be beneficial, full training would be provided for the right candidate.

The candidate must also be comfortable with the physical nature of the role, which involves tasks such as manual handling, lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

This role is being offered on a fixed term contract basis for 6 months of 39 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4pm and Friday 7.30am to 3.00pm.

Key responsibilities:

Potting:
  • Preparing plants for potting
  • Potting with the ‘potting machine’
  • Setting down crops
  • Setting up and moving the machine and conveyor belts
Other Tasks:
  • Plant husbandry, growing and tending plants from small to large specimens
  • Lifting and preparing and packing plants for customer orders
  • General nursery maintenance and any other associated tasks
  • Creating plant displays
  • Assisting goods in
