Job Title: Lead Practice Nurse

Location: Burton-on-Trent

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £22-£26 per hour


Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Practice Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. As the Lead Practice Nurse, you will play a critical role in the delivery of high-quality patient care, leading the nursing team, and supporting the wider clinical team in a busy GP practice. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the practice and enhance patient services.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Leadership: Provide leadership and support to a team of practice nurses, ensuring a collaborative and efficient work environment. Lead by example in delivering excellent patient care.
  2. Clinical Practice: Deliver a wide range of nursing services, including but not limited to chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, COPD), immunizations, health screenings, wound care, and cervical smears.
  3. Team Management: Oversee the scheduling and supervision of nursing staff, ensuring all clinical tasks are appropriately delegated. Ensure the team works in accordance with practice protocols and professional standards.
  4. Training and Development: Identify training needs within the nursing team and contribute to their professional development. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior nurses.
  5. Quality Assurance: Ensure that clinical procedures and patient care protocols meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and patient satisfaction. Monitor and evaluate clinical performance and implement improvements where necessary.
  6. Patient Care and Advice: Offer patients advice on managing their health conditions, promoting healthy lifestyles, and supporting preventive care initiatives.
  7. Collaboration: Work closely with the Practice Manager, GPs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive, patient-centred care. Attend clinical meetings to discuss practice issues, patient care, and updates to clinical guidelines.
  8. Compliance and Regulations: Ensure the practice remains compliant with healthcare regulations and standards. Maintain accurate patient records in line with confidentiality requirements and safeguarding guidelines.
