Our Team

We are looking for clinicians of varying backgrounds to join our Specialist Client Services team as a Support & Rehabilitation Coordinator (SRC).

As an SRC, you will join a multi-disciplinary national team of 14, who are based in our IM offices across the UK. You will be a close point of contact for our clients and their families.

This role can be based from our Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, London or Southampton offices with hybrid working available.

Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

Your key responsibilities will be:

1. Liaising with Irwin Mitchell (IM) clients who have sustained a serious injury or suffer from a serious illness, to provide education, support, signposting, and advocacy. Manage their expectations and support the client and their family through treatment and rehabilitation and/or the course of their illness and support solicitors in their management of the client.
2. Delivering a smooth transition of new clients from key acute NHS services and liaise with treating medical, therapeutic and care staff regarding discharge and provide advice and practical support regarding services and support available locally.
3. Achieving resolution of client problems by building relationships and working collaboratively with relevant bodies and assisting clients in a manner appropriate to their needs by assessing their individual requirements. Acting on any referrals from the case handler/lawyer and identifying the client needs. Working autonomously and in partnership with the client and their families, whilst documenting and communicating any actions.
4. Be a link between lawyers, public bodies, agencies, charities, NHS and DWP to ensure effective communication and secure additional statutory or voluntary services where required. Providing ongoing support, signposting, coordination or practical support to the client and their family. Where appropriate, ensuring the client is maximising their statutory welfare entitlement (we have a dedicated Benefits Team to support you and our clients).
5. Preparing and showcasing our SRC service to NHS Trusts, charities, and outside agencies to promote our services and encourage referrals of new clients. Facilitate the promotion of Irwin Mitchell and its services, by delivering training and identifying links with potential new client referrers.
6. Follow up with clients to gain feedback and suggestions about our services to help us progress and improve.

You'll join the Specialist Client Services teams and work with a number of experienced and dedicated solicitors recognised for their expertise in supporting those affected by serious injury and illness (personal injury and medical negligence).

About You

1. Experience working within the UK healthcare or social care system.
2. Experience of working environments with a passion for high quality client centred practice.
3. A clinician by background with current registration with your governing body e.g. NMC, HCPC etc.
4. Knowledge of Health care, rehabilitation, welfare policy, and advocacy services.
5. Understanding of relevant rehabilitation codes, Mental Capacity Act and welfare benefits.
6. Awareness of external stakeholders (Headway, SIA, Aspire).
7. Experience working in a clinical, health/social care or rehabilitation setting.
8. Understanding of complex and multifaceted conditions (e.g. brain, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic injury, birth injury, industrial disease, bereavement).
9. Experience of working in multiple settings (e.g. acute, post-acute, community settings).
10. Experience of working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) framework.
11. Confident to be able to work autonomously and independently.
12. Full UK driving licence and access to a car - you'll be expected to meet with clients and other stakeholders on a regular basis.
