About The Company
Ingfield Manor School is a non-maintained special school and part of Salutem Care and Education who have services across England and Wales supporting adults and children in residential and educational environments.
Based in its own idyllic grounds, Ingfield Manor School offers extensive specialist facilities with the aim to provide an exceptional learning environment, helping children and young people fulfil their potential. Facilities include woodland and outdoor classroom space, high specification sensory room and swimming pool.

The aim of our services is to provide a safe and stimulating environment that enables children and young people to flourish and grow.
Our IMS provision caters for students aged 3—19 years with neurological motor impairment such as Cerebral Palsy and associated medical and sensory needs. Following the Conductive Education approach, Ingfield Manor School focuses on the holistic development of everyone, including their physical and communication skills.
Our Woodview provision is for secondary aged students with special educational needs including speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) and autistic spectrum conditions (ASC).

About The Role
Job Overview

To be part of a small nursing team overseeing the healthcare needs of our children and young people. You will be responsible for a small caseload of students and demonstrate strong communication skills alongside a large trans-disciplinary team.
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week. Term Time Only (39 weeks)
Salary: £29,704 - £33,032 Per Annum (FTE, 52 Weeks £34,633 - £38,513)

Job Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Senior Nurse with the organisation of the school’s small nursing team.
  2. Process the assessment and interpretation of information regarding students’ conditions and take the appropriate actions.
  3. Ensure the promotion of evidence-based practice by reviewing and monitoring standards of care in line with local and national guidance.
  4. Liaise and communicate effectively with a wide range of health, education and social care professionals across professional boundaries.
  5. Participate in effective channels of communication within own team and wider school team.
  6. Update and maintain nursing notes including liaising with external professionals for feeding regimes, asthma plans, respiratory plans and any other relevant plans.
  7. Maintain effective, appropriate communication with parents/guardians.
  8. Provide information and where possible deliver training to enable staff to gain knowledge and understanding of students' individual/personal care needs.
  9. Supervise staff on a daily basis on their competency and understanding to maintain a high standard of practice.
  10. Maintain timely and accurate record keeping.
  11. Participate in the management of an unwell student in school.
  12. Prepare nursing reports.
  13. Implement all aspects of medicines management related activities in accordance with Salutem and Ingfield medicine policy to ensure the safe, legal and appropriate use of medicines.
  14. Participate in the management of emergency situations. Ensure that relevant emergency plans are in place and appropriate action is taken and reviewed following any medical emergency.
  15. Undertake and support with the organisation of clinics and specialist visits with the collaboration of appropriate staff and parents.
  16. Participate in the nurse on call system ensuring 24-hour cover weekdays.
  17. Be part of the assessment process of future pupil and student placements, to ensure that the school is able to meet the medical needs of prospective students.
  18. On occasion to deputise as the Senior Nurse in their absence and work unsupervised.
  19. To work within the NMC Guidelines relating to code of professional conduct.
  20. To work seamlessly across department or team boundaries in a collaborative and constructive manner to implement Salutem’s strategic direction.
  21. To demonstrate a commitment to excellence and deliver against the requirements of the organisation and any regulatory inspections.
