The role
As a Nuclear Repair Welder, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary.

Day-to-day, your role will include undertaking welding activities, repairs and inspections on systems and equipment on all RN and other entitled Vessels and, when required, in other sections including the Estate.

  • Completion of all planned preventative maintenance and nuclear implicated work to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
  • Identification and rectification of all system, manufacture, defects, and alterations to ensure the continued availability and performance of HMNB Clyde Submarines, Surface Vessels and the Estate.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Faslane.

Essential experience of the Nuclear Repair Welder

  • Knowledge and Experience in TIG and MMA welding
  • Knowledge of Flux Core welding is desirable
  • Experience with Safe Systems Of Work
  • Experience in interpreting engineering drawings

Qualifications for the Nuclear Repair Welder

  • N/SVQ Level 3 in Fabrication/Welding

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
