The role of the board of directors is to set St John’s Trading Company’s strategic direction, monitor the delivery of its objectives, and uphold its values and governance.
The non-executive directors of the board have thus far been comprised entirely of members who are trustees of St John’s Foundation. The trading company now seeks to add at least one independent non-executive director to bring specific expertise in the areas of the trading company’s operations as well as bringing an external perspective.
The appointed independent non-executive director(s) will sit on the St John’s Hospital Trading Company Ltd board, alongside other directors who are charity trustees, the Managing Director and Director of Finance.
They are seeking to add at least one independent non-executive director to the board of St John’s Hospital Trading Company Ltd who has a commercial background, ideally experience in the hospitality or commercial property sectors, and a track record of growing businesses. Experience as a non-executive director is desirable, but not essential.
The trading company board meets quarterly for up to two hours, with occasional additional ad hoc meetings. Meetings are held primarily in person in Bath, though online attendance can be arranged if necessary. Directors are appointed for an initial term of three years. The position is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be covered.
