An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a Non-Executive Director with clinical expertise to join their Board. This is a unique opportunity to impact the health and well-being of the Stockport community. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, governance knowledge, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. You will play a crucial role in balancing quality, finance, and operational demands while fostering a collaborative environment. If you are passionate about improving healthcare services and have a background in nursing or allied health, this role is perfect for you.
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is no ordinary Trust. It holds a unique position in the Stockport community as the provider of healthcare to its population, and it is one of its largest employers.
It is a leading provider of hospital and community health services in Greater Manchester. With a strong focus on clinical excellence, patient safety, and service innovation, we are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Our services include acute hospital care, specialist treatments, and extensive community-based health services. With an annual budget of around £400m and 6,500 staff, the Trust supports around half a million patients a year across Stockport, as well as patients from neighbouring Cheshire East and the High Peak area of Derbyshire.
This is an exciting time to join the Board at Stockport NHS FT. We are working closely with Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and have a long history of partnership working as geographical neighbours. We are seeking to strengthen that collaborative approach driven by a shared commitment to enhancing patient care, improving health outcomes, and ensuring the sustainability of healthcare services in our communities. We have a number of shared executive director roles, along with a shared Chief Executive Officer and a newly appointed Joint Chair.
We welcome diverse and fresh perspectives; innovation and inclusive leaders who thrive with accountability and ambiguity. Comfortable in challenging at board level in complex organisations; you will be politically astute, creative and focused on quality. You will bring to life our values as you promote the highest standards of integrity and corporate governance, ensuring that quality, finance and operational demands are held in balance. We are specifically seeking a Non-Executive Director who is/has been a clinician specifically in Nursing/Midwifery/Allied Health Professional or Healthcare Scientist and who has experience of transformation, including bringing organisations and cultures together.
We believe that the best boards are those that reflect the communities they serve, and we are therefore seeking to improve the diversity of our Board to make it truly representative of our workforce and local population.
We are keen to receive applications from all protected characteristics and those who either have a strong connection to their local community or those with lived experience, either as carers or service users. We are particularly keen to receive applications from BAME (people who are from black, Asian and minority ethnic) communities or those identifying as having a disability, who we know are under-represented in chair and non-executive roles.
We hold a unique position in the Stockport community as the provider of healthcare and we are one of its largest employers.
Our mission is to make a difference every day. Our values are that we care, we respect, and we listen.
