Job description

The Role

Do you have a passion for innovation in transforming nursing roles and maximising the contribution of nursing to managing the patient care journey, as an expert in clinical care?

Are you an experienced senior nurse clinical leader with significant clinical leadership experience and an ambition to develop within the sphere of Specialist Palliative Care?

If this is you, we are looking to recruit a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking nurse to undertake the role of Responsible Clinician and become one of the first nurse consultant bed holders within NHS Scotland for Specialist Palliative Care.

The Specialist Palliative Care service operates across community, hospital and hospice services and the Responsible Clinician will be expected to undertake the complimentary role of inpatient non-medical bed holder within the inpatient hospice area. An expert clinician, you will perform highly specialist and autonomous comprehensive physical examination and assessment, initiating care and highly specialist treatment modalities.

In addition to bed holding responsibilities, this role will be developed to support care across the Specialist Palliative care service and the transforming roles agenda within our specialist nurse team. Job planning in conjunction with the Clinical Director will support sessions required across the 4 pillars of practice and for ongoing CPD.

If you believe you can fulfil these aspirations, we look forward to receiving your application.

NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
