Job description

NHS Deputy Director of Infection Prevention & Control

Are you a seasoned Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) professional looking for a high-impact leadership role? Our client, a large NHS organisation, is seeking an experienced Deputy Director of Infection Prevention & Control (DDIPC) to provide expert guidance and drive strategic initiatives across the Trust.

The Role:

As the Deputy DIPC, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention and control, leading operational and strategic plans while working closely with the Chief Nurse and IPC lead doctor. This is a highly visible and influential position, ensuring compliance with the Hygiene Code, Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, and national infection reduction targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide assurance to the Board on infection prevention performance
  2. Lead and oversee the Trust's IPC service, ensuring robust governance and compliance
  3. Act as the Trust Lead for Decontamination, ensuring adherence to national standards
  4. Collaborate with microbiology teams and senior stakeholders to drive infection control improvements
  5. Chair and contribute to key committees, including Outbreak Management and Antimicrobial Stewardship
  6. Develop and implement policies, training, and audit programmes to embed a strong infection prevention culture

What We're Looking For:

  1. Extensive NHS experience at Band 8D or above
  2. Expertise in Infection Prevention & Control, with a proven track record in leadership and governance
  3. Strong strategic and operational management experience
  4. Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders at Board level
  5. Advanced knowledge of decontamination standards and antimicrobial stewardship

Band: 8d to 9

Start: Mid April

Length: 3 to 6 months
