Job Summary

Your role of Sound Technician will see you working under the instructions of the Company, the festival Producers and the festival Production Manager. This role is a key member of the technical team and is responsible for operating and helping to rig the sound tech in either the main theatre or tent.

We're looking to hire somebody who lives in close proximity to the venue and can make their own way to the venue on a daily basis if possible.

Role

  • Installing and subsequent removal of sound equipment in performance venues.
  • Welcoming visiting companies, assisting with their technical rehearsals, rigging specials and programming where required.
  • Assisting in daily turnarounds between shows.
  • Operating shows as required.
  • Keeping full record of all information pertaining to sound requirements for shows, including turnaround notes, cue sheets and any other paperwork required.
  • Ensuring that all backstage facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standard.
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to by visiting companies and report any issues to management.

Person Specification

  • Experience of working as a sound technician in a professional environment.
  • Experience of working with orchestras and live bands would be preferable.
  • Good knowledge of theatrical sound technology including rigging, patching, focusing and programming of digital sound desks, preferably on Midas or Yamaha desks.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety in a theatrical environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working at height.

Dates and Pay Details

Dates of Engagement

Build Period (optional): 22nd - 29th May

Operational Dates: 30th May 2025 - 25th June 2025

Freelance rate: £150-170/day (inclusive of holiday pay) - wage dependent on experience and role.
