The Role:

The Network Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the bank's network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability to support critical business operations. The role focuses on optimizing network performance, managing incidents, and leading strategic network enhancements. Reporting to the Technical Service Lead, the Network Lead collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to deliver reliable and secure connectivity for the organization.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Network uptime and availability exceeding agreed Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) for network incidents.
  • Reduction in recurring network issues through root cause analysis and preventive actions.
  • Compliance with regulatory and internal security standards.
  • Successful implementation of network scalability and modernization projects within timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities:

Network Management and Optimization

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and management of the bank’s network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud connectivity.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring minimal downtime and high service quality.
  • Plan and execute capacity upgrades and network scalability initiatives in line with business growth.

Incident Management and Troubleshooting

  • Lead the resolution of network incidents, including root cause analysis and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Manage Level 2/3 network support escalations, ensuring timely resolution of critical issues.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations and Security teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security protocols.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture teams to ensure network designs align with system requirements and strategic goals.
  • Work with vendors and service providers to manage contracts, troubleshoot issues, and deliver high-quality services.
  • Provide regular updates to the Technical Service Lead on network health, incidents, and improvement initiatives.

Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure network infrastructure complies with regulatory standards, including GDPR and PCI-DSS, as well as internal security policies.
  • Conduct network audits and risk assessments, implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance.
  • Document network configurations, changes, and incident reports to ensure transparency and operational continuity.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with emerging networking technologies and recommend solutions to improve the bank’s infrastructure.
  • Drive automation initiatives for network configuration and monitoring to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for network services, ensuring business continuity during outages.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in managing and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Proficiency in network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and technologies (e.g., MPLS, SD-WAN).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and automation frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of security standards and practices, such as VPNs, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).

Reporting and Relationships

  • Reports to the Technical Service Lead.
  • Collaborates with IT Operations, Engineering, Information Security, and Architecture teams.
  • Engages with external vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality network services.
